Welcome to the home page of Professor Bert Atsma.

Hi! This website is for my biology students (or anyone interested in biology) to come to for information. Enjoy your visit!

Announcements:

Online course students: Click the "Online Course Information" link here or in the left navigation frame.

Traditional course students: Please see the syllabus for your course in the General information section of this website (link at left). Also click the courses link for information and notes I have ready for you.

If you have questions about grading policies or getting into closed sections, please see the general information section (link at left) of this website for syllabi and the FAQ's page before emailing me. Thanks.

Answers to the "Just for Fun" exercise (in the lab in P212).

Please note: I regularly update many sections of this website, and the default setting for many browsers is to load a stored page. To ensure that you are viewing the most current page, click the "refresh" button on your browser (or press F5) when at  a page you need.

Click on the mailbox to email me: UCC Students, use this address only!
Note: messages with no subject or suspiciously vague ones (e.g. "Hi there" or "Important question" or "Please reply") will be deleted without opening due to the amount of spam and virus-infected email. Better would be: "Bio 102 question" or "Request from a bio 105 student."

Explanation of the links:

The Courses link will take you to a menu page where you can choose the course you are taking or just interested in.  Clicking on one of the course links takes you to the page for that course where I have notes and other stuff to help students.

Online Course Information: This one is pretty self-explanatory, but it does take you to the nexus page for my online courses so you can choose to learn more about my Bio 102, Bio 121, and Bio 002.

General Information connects you to a page where you can choose to view my current schedule, syllabi, and grading polices.

Recommended Books/Bookstore takes you to a page listing the books used in the courses I teach. As it says on the page, we recommend you use the UCC bookstore, but links to the relevant Amazon dot com page are provided for information and the option of ordering where appropriate (e.g. distance ed students from out of state or out of county).

Links and Other Stuff as it says, this link connects to a menu page of general interest stuff such as links to sites I have found interesting for one reason or another, my favorite quotes, etc. I haven't had as much time to develop this section, but it may be worth a look.

Resume connects to... you guessed it! My Resume! This is not primarily posted in hopes of someone reading it and offering me a million dollar job (as nice as that might be). Rather, students (and anyone else I suppose) can learn about my academic and professional background.

I hope you find what you are seeking.
Thanks for visiting!
