GLUTEAL MUSCLES
The gluteal muscles form the mass of the buttock. They all have dorigins on the ilium. The maximus also has origins on the sacrum and coccyx. The maximus inserts on the gluteal tuberosity of the femur. The medius and minimus insert on the greater trochanter of the femur. They all abduct and medially rotate the thigh.
