SARTORIUS
The sartorius is a strap-like superficial muscle running across the front of the thigh from its origin on the anterior superior iliac spine to the medial aspect of the proximal end of the tibia. The actions of this muscle are to flex and laterally rotate the thigh. It also flexes the knee. Because of its combined actions, the sartorius is called the “tailor’s muscle” because of the cross legged sitting position it produces.
