SOLEUS
The soleus is a flattened muscle deep to the gastrocnemius. It has its origin on the proximal tibia and fibula. The soleus inserts on the calcaneus along with the gastrocnemius via the calcaneal tendon. Its chief action is plantar flexion of the foot.
