HAIR - an epidermal derivative
A hair is an elastic, keratinized thread that develops from the epidermis. They vary from 0.05 to 0.5 mm in thickness. They are found over the entire skin except the palms, soles and dorsal surfaces of the distal phalanges. Enclosing the hair is a tubular follicle. At its lower end in the deep dermis, the follicle expands into the hair bulb.
