BRAIN STEM - MIDBRAIN
The brain stem is the last major portion of the brain. It contains the centers for regulating physiological processes, e.g., respiration, blood pressure, heart rate and wake-sleep cycles. The midbrain is the uppermost region of the brain stem.
It is located at the junction of the cerebellum and pons. It is a relay station for motor and sensory messages between parts of the brain and between the brain and spinal cord. The midbrain controls various unconscious motor responses
