BRAIN STEM - PONS
The Pons is located just superior to the medulla oblongata and inferior to the midbrain. The pons contains important neuronal pathways arising from the cerebrum (motor) and spinal cord (sensory) ,as well as, the cerebellum. The pons functions as a relay station for these messages. In addition, the pons contains important centers for regulating breathing.
