Student Feedback
How'm I doing??
Student Feedback throughout the term for
CIS204 Database Management at Union County College

I think that having a final that counts a lot in your grade is not the best way to do things.  It is sad for a student to work all term and then at the end, when there is nothing she/he can do about it, realize that she/he didn’t “get” the material!  Likewise, though teacher evaluations of professors at the end of terms are nice and possibly the professor will take to heart the scores and comments so that subsequent classes are improved, it doesn’t help the student who is completing the evaluation, except sometimes for a feeling of revenge.

Ed Koch As former NYC Mayor Koch would say “How’m I doing?  How’m I doing?”  So I am asking you now, two weeks into the course, four weeks, six, eight, ten weeks, but in time to do something about it for you and other students in this session of the course.  It is very import for all students to communicate where they are having trouble and thoughts on how I can help.  It also helps if you find good things to point out and say “We should do more of that”  This on-line distance learning is so new that there are no tried and true techniques.  Both learner and professor are feeling their ways forward.  So I invite you to communicate your idea on the course frequently.

I am looking for feedback on course content and course delivery techniques.  When are we doing things where the time expended is not worth it in terms of the material learned.

You can communicate by:

bulletSending me email
bulletPosting something on the message board under “Meta” Course- How we can improve this course.  That way fellow students can use your idea as a starting point to further discuss the course
Or if you don’t want to be identified, complete as much of this form as you want and submit it.  If you don't sign it, there is no way for me to know who sent it!
How would your rate the course content so far? The material is relevant  The material is irrelevant

There's too much material   There's not enough material
The quantity of material is about  right
