Following is a list of the basic computer requirements for ALL students enrolled in online CIS204 Database Design and Management or those wishing to work at home. Students must have a reliable e-mail  account, access to the Internet, and the ability to send and open Microsoft Word attachments.   If you do not have ALL of these requirements, this is NOT the course for you. You will be required to log on and access Professor Greenbaum's website and to communicate with your classmates on a WebBoard.  Therefore, you MUST be able to access a computer on a regular basis--at least several times per week.   BASIC COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS Internet Connection Either direct network connection or a dial-up or cable modem connection The Internet connection that you use must be interactive and provide access to the Worldwide Web and a reliable personal e-mail address  The electronic mail program that you use must be able to send and receive attachments; students must know this procedure BEFORE the start of class.   Computer Hardware  (minimum requirements) Pentium (266 MHz or faster) 32 MB of RAM 15 inch SVGA color monitor, unless you are using a laptop which may have a smaller screen 28.8 kps or 56 kps dial-up modem, or cable modem Mouse or other tracking device Zip or 3-1/2 inch floppy diskette drive Computer Software  Microsoft Word 97, 2000 or XP (available for use in all UCC computing labs on all campuses) or purchase MS Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher and/or Netscape Navigator 4.0 or higher  Electronic mail program capable of sending and receiving MIME compliant attachments such  as MS Word Windows 95 or 98 or Millennium or NT workstation 4.0 or 2000 Microsoft Word 97, 2000 or XP (available for use in all UCC computing labs on all campuses) or purchase Real Player (available as a FREE download from http://www.real.com) QuickTime Player (available as a FREE download from http://www.quicktime.com) Email any questions you may have to Professor Greenbaum
