The portfolio can be
either be submitted
 | on
paper in a folder or notebook |
or
 | put it a portfolio page on your
web site |
or
 | the best is to put all the work
both places.
(It is a small expenditure of time
that will pay
itself back over and over) |
Don't wait until the end of the term! As the term progresses, save
complete/graded assignments. Also accumulate them on a Portfolio page on
your personal Web site.
On
your web site
 | Create a Home page with the
same things
as a paper cover page and maybe more
 | your
full name |
 | the
course title (Introduction to Computer Applications) |
 | the date (Spring 2009 or
May 2009)
|
 | your
photo of you or a
interesting computer related clipart |
 | Union County College
|
 | Professor Maureen Greenbaum
(optional and in a small font) |
 | a link
to the course web site |
 | a gadget

|
 |
Create a Resume page
 | since the world can see your site, either
delete your street address
or change it to
something obviously fictional like 123 Unreal Street, you should keep the
correct city, state
and zip. Change your phone to (123) 555-1212. Leave your email so folks can get in
touch with you. |
 | Copy and Paste your Word resume |
 | Make your email into a clickable link |
|
 | Create a Portfolio page
|
See
detail directions for creating a
web site on Google sites
In the second to last (penultimate)
week of the term:
 | create the cover page print and organize the pages |
 | create a detailed table of contents
separated by software application and listing each paper |
 | put your resume as the first ting since that
is what most folks are most interested in |
 | put
the whole thing in a folder (optionally 3 hole punched) |
 | submit a portfolio of the
term's work for review and a grade |
Your portfolio is yours to keep as a permanent record and something to show to potential
employers, and even current employers,
to demonstrate proof of your knowledge of
important computer application software
The cover sheet for a
paper portfolio should contain:
 | your
full name |
 | the
course title (Introduction to Computer Applications)

2009 or
December 2009) |
 | your
photo of you or a

Both the paper and the online Table of Contents should
 | list

was done on the web |
|

The paper portfolio could contain:
 | optionally dividers
with the title of each section (word processing, spreadsheet, etc)
|
 | contain both
independent work and class work, graded and non-graded practice items
|
 | include either the graded assignment with green
grading marks or a clean copy or both (with the clean copy first)
|
 | optionally, a printout of the assignments and test pages from the
course web site to show the instructions that were followed to produce
the included work
|
The typical portfolio is usually over 40 pages. See printing hints.
Do NOT put your papers in those cellophane protectors
(the beauty of computer work is never final, it that it can always be
change, improved!
