We live in a society where there is infinite stuff to be known. If is impossible to know what specific stuff you will need next week or next year. Each of us is interested in (needs or finds relevant) different stuff. This stuff (information) is available on the internet and in books. The key is to be able to
| locate the right stuff | |
| understand it | |
| manipulate and apply it properly to the problem at hand | |
| find assistance for using computer processing tools |
This course will attempt to teach these skills.
Students
must remember how to use the techniques learned in this class
beyond the tests and beyond the final.
To learn you need to have a place to put the new information, so ask questions to carve a hole in your brain for the answer.
When you do the assignment absolutely correctly the first time, you probably already knew the stuff. Real learning occurs when you correct your mistakes. You may resubmit assignments incorporating feedback in order for that learning to occur.
Where possible class time (and hopefully your homework time) will be spend at the higher percentages of the Learning pyramid. People retain the greatest percentage of information when they teach others.
