MS Access the database tool that is part of the Microsoft Office Suite thus if you know MS Word, Excel or PowerPoint, you are already familiar with many o the toolbar and menu choices

This course objective

	Overview of Access What Access can (should be used to) do Components Twice or 3 times as many features as Excel
	Brave (Undo)
	Help

Versus

	Word processing (MS Word)
	Presentations (PowerPoint)
	Spreadsheets (Excel) for a picture frozen in time

Use Access for

	Data that constantly changes
	Data that you wish to sort/group/summarize in various ways
	Data with a variable number of subordinate records (ie students and assignments submitted)

The screen

	Toolbar(s) (same as other Office tools) Hover for words that explain Use View Toolbars to toolbars appear/disappear Move them, resize, see/choose extra icons Customizing a bar (add, remove, move icons)
	Task pane

The database

	Named saved  right away, each record automatically saved to disk when you move to next
	It is big and compact (Tools Database Utilities)

	Wizard, select, rename fields
	Design, change names, size, format, default etc

1. Build Student and Student Classes Databases using wizard
