Install Smartdraw 6

Take the tutorial!

Select a new drawing (File menu or 1st icon) and the following menu will appear

As you can see there are tons of fun things you (and your children or little brothers and sisters) can do with SmartDraw, and why you might want to register the product for $49 when your 30 day free trial is over.

For this class, select Software Design.

They are much more wonderful when you know how to use them.  So it you didn't take the Quick tutorial off the web site, pull down the Help Menu  and take the View Tutorial now.

When you are ready to draw, look on the left of the screen

Expand Software Design

Expand Libraries and then ERD & Databases

Select Entity Relationship Diagrams. The special tools for E-R diagrams:

are made available. 

Draw all relationships using the 5 arrow types on the top row.

You can draw an ordinary line and the right click on it

From the short menu you can Flip, Rotate and otherwise manipulate your lines.

By selecting Arrowheads SmartDraw gives these choices:

Post it at the Virtual Hard Disk in your directory

Log your efforts on the Bulletin Board.

Download and Review team member's E-R models.

Provide feedback (3 good idea that you will incorporate in your diagram, and 3 problems and suggestions for improvement/correction).

Download and Review other students' E-R models.

Provide feedback (3 good idea that you will incorporate in your diagram, and 3 problems and suggestions for improvement/correction)

Incorporate other student's good ideas into your E-R diagram and upload it.  Then Log a summary of the modifications on the Bulletin Board.

Check your feedback.  Either reply to the post explaining why it isn't a great idea. or improve your E-R diagram as suggested.  Then upload your modified diagram to the Virtual Hard Disk in your directory and log a summary of the modifications on the Bulletin Board.
