  1. Check - Is this the course for you?

  2. Allocate 7 to 8 hours a week to take this course - that is over `100 hours between now and end of the course, the 2nd week in May. 
    When taken face-to-face (standard lecture mode), it is 3 1/2 hours class time, 1 hour commuting and 3 hours of homework. 
    When taken online, it is 7 hours a week :

    reading the text

    bullet

    working on problems

    bullet

    online

    bullet

    reading and commenting on WebBoard)

    bullet

    downloading the solutions  of other students and studying them

    bullet

    reading sites that explain and demonstrate database design

  3. Read About this course and check out the assignments.

  4. Take the precourse questionaire

  5. Obtain the textbook

  6. Email the Prof so she can give you Message Board access

  7. Follow hyperlinks on the pages and become familiar with the web site

  8. Make sure you are comfortable with Access and the web, take a tutorial if not

  9. Do the First Assignment of introducing yourself
