This
course is for computer science majors and computer information systems majors,
who need to know how to correctly design, construct and manipulate databases.
People already in the IT field would also take this course.
Students design their Databases on paper and then using computer drawing tools. Once the concepts of proper database design are understood, the student implements the database design, forms, queries and reports in MS Access. Each student has a term long project with a topic of his/her own choice. It is the subject of each database design, construction and manipulation exercise. Since this is a database design course, not an Access course, the student should be comfortable using the basic commands of Access or any PC database application.
