Free Web Space - Your briefcase (a virtual disk) in cyberspace

Rather than physically drag your files from place to place (school to home, etc) with the possibility of forgetting them one place or the other, put them in cyberspace so they will be accessible from wherever you (and the internet) are.  And when the file is in cyberspace anyone with the URL (and password) can access it.  For years I used Yahoo briefcase, but they have eliminated sharing, so starting in the Fall 2006, students will try one or more of the following.  Web-a-File and 4shared and the others listed below keep your files private so no one can see them unless you share them (this done slightly differently by each but basically the briefcase service creates an email to the address you specify and sends download instructions to the recipient). 
If you don't mind others who know your website address viewing your work, upload it to a Googlepages site.

EZ-Files does not delete your files but you must remember the link to access or delete them so email them to yourself immediately.  You can share files by emailing the access link - there is no password protection here!

Verzend is a free filehost, a place to upload files and have them picked up by someone else at a later time. Recipients  are sent an email with instructions on how to download the file. Files are removed from the system after 7 days non activity, regardless if they have been picked up or not. You can upload any type of file, mp3, movies, docs, pdfs, up to 1000MB each!

SendMeFile is somewhere outside the US, but is very simple and has a short silent video that explains it all

Anyware_It - you have to sign up and retrieve your temporary password via email but hen it is quite easy (free for a 15 day trial)
