Create professional looking document using Microsoft Word including use of the following features:

bulletEnter, Edit, Move vs. Copy (cut & paste, drag & drop) text and images
bulletSave, Retrieve (find) Documents
bulletPreview and Print Documents
bulletHeaders & Footers with auto date and page numbers
bulletPage Setup - Margins, Orientation
bulletSpeller, Thesaurus, Find/Replace
bulletSymbols for foreign characters and non-break spaces
bulletFormat Characters using toolbar and Format menu (Bold, Italic, Underline, Size, Typeface, Color, Highlight)
bulletBorders & Shading
bulletBullets & Numbers
bulletFormatting Paragraphs (Inheritance, Alignment, Indents, Leading, Keep Together)
bulletIndent on the Ruler and Paragraph dialog box: Right, Left, First line, Hanging head

Procedure:

bullet

Take the Word Processing Pretest

bullet Choose to do 2 or 3 of the following 4
bulletKiddy Book Review (recommended - do 1st)
bulletComputer Expo and/or
bulletMagazine Review(s) (1 or 2 different magazines) and/or
bulletComputer Store Visit(s) - (Either hardware or software or both)
bulletGuidelines for Kiddy Book Review, Magazine Review, and Computer Expo,  and Computer Store Visit
bulletShow off the word processing techniques you have learned (the document may look a bit too jazzy...don't worry that great!)
bulletMake it short (one page is best), but make each word count.  
First paragraph should contain the essentials, such as the name of the book or magazine, site or store visited.  If a book, include the author and copyright date, if magazine the issue date, if a store, its locations and where it's located and when you visited. If a Web site, how did you find it (search engine, what keywords, directory, hyperlinked from what site).  Introductory paragraph should have  2 or 3 sentences.
bulletSecond paragraph tells the important points and what you learned in 5 or 6 sentences.
bulletLast paragraph is for your opinion.  Your opinion of the book, store, Expo or what have you.  Your opinion of the assignment.  Your opinion of the course so far.
bulletBe sure your Name, section number and the date is up in the upper right hand corner (this is best done with the Header function)
bulletUse the spelling checker
bulletCheck that you have complied with all the word processing hints.
bulletShow off all the word processing skills you have learned like
bullet Footnotes
bulletPage Borders
bulletBullets and Numbers
bulletClip art (crop, watermark, etc)
bulletShading, highlighting, boxes
bulletTables
bulletDo the Resume Assignment
bulletDo the Mail Merge Assignment

 

Assessment

Level of attainment of the Student Learn Objectives will be assessed via:

bullet Observation of the presentation
bulletA quiz where a small Word document is created that answers questions from lecture on computer concepts and from the text and then specifies that word effects such as footnotes, borders, font formatting be done.
bulletA similar problems on the final exam
