Tentative for Spring 2009 Semester

ACC-103-300, Accounting I 

Dear Student,  

Welcome to the online course ACC-103-300, Accounting I.   CLASS BEGINS THE FIRST DAY OF THE SEMESTER, JANUARY 22.   IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU HAVE YOUR   TEXTBOOK THE FIRST DAY OF THE SEMESTER.  

The required online course textbook for Accounting I, ACC-103-300, is FUNDAMENTALS OF ACCOUNTING  (19 Edition).  This is packaged with My Homework Lab Plus access code.  This includes a required homework and testing package and an ebook. 

Homework Manager without the ebook can be purchase separately online for $40. 

You can purchase only Homework Manager Plus access online from McGraw Hill for $90.  This includes Homework Manager and the ebook, which is the textbook online.  There is no hard copy text with this.  Be sure you are comfortable reading the text on line.  It can only be printed a page at a time.

It is best  to purchase the online package of the textbook for the online course (ACC-103-300) from the UCC Cranford bookstore.     As this is a special package, it is cheaper as a package and can only be purchased at the UCC bookstore.   .  Bookstore hours can be found by calling the bookstore at 908-709-7619.  You can purchase the textbook and access code by mail from the bookstore with a major credit card.

You will be able to log on to the online course on the first day of class.  To log on to the online course Accounting, ACC-103-300, complete these steps: 

1.    Click on http://www.ucc.edu, Distance Education and Angel.
       You 
must use one of the  following  as your browser:   Microsoft IE
       
6.0; Netscape 6.2.x   (needs
Java plug in) or 7.0; AOL
        7.0 or 8.0.

2.     Click on ACC-103-300.

3.    Keyboard the Username.  It will be your student CWID.  

4.         Keyboard the Password.  It will be your birth date, in the month, day, year  format. (mmddyy) 

Note:  The password cannot be changed.   

Example:

A student with a CWID of 12345678 and a birthday of June 21, 1988

will be able to logon to Angel using the following:  

                            Username: 

                            12345678 

                             Password

                               062188 

5.     You will be asked for a Homework Manager + access code. 

        The following may not be true this semester.  This will be mailed to you at the bottom of a copy of this letter.  You can enter the course on a temporary basis without  the access code.  Email rhenderson!@ucc.edu to get an access code.  You have 15 days to use the temporary access code when you again enter the course.

6.         Proceed as instructed.

One orientation meeting  is scheduled on the Cranford Campus on Saturday, January 31,  in H-216 from 1:30-2:50 p.m.  It is strongly advised  that you attend this orientation meeting.   An overview of the course and Angel orientation will be presented.   Tests will be given online, and there will be two proctored tests.   The proctored tests can be taken on the UCC campus or another site agreeable to you and your professor.  Preferably, this could be a testing center at a college near you.   You will not be required to come to campus at any time.
