WELCOME ONLINE CONSUMER CHEMISTRY  STUDENTS

You have enrolled in non-majors Consumer and Environmental Chemistry, Che 124 (no lab) or Che 106 (with @home labs).

This course will be offered in the Fall of  2008.  WEB CT course access begins on Sept. 3rd when this class starts. If you register after the 3rd, please contact me ASAP to catch up on the work you have missed!

All students should email me as soon as they have registered to obtain usernames/passwords to access the course web site from the Che 106 Portal web page listed above. All assignments and due dates are posted at the course site.

Interested colleagues and non registered students may click on the guest entry link listed at the top of this page to view sample syllabi.

A required  class meeting is scheduled for:

Lab kits will be distributed at this time to all registered students.

bulletCheck web ct email, retreive and save the student student that is attached to my welcome message. Please complete the survey and email it to me thru web ct as soon as possible. Please email it as an MS word doc attachment to your email.
bulletAll registered students, please go to the Che 106 Portal web page where you will use your username and password to enter the WebCT course site as well as to access WebBoard, the lab download and course conference center.

The lecture portion of Che 106/124 is delivered online. The technology requirements are as follows:

bullet Java, Javascript and cookie enabled supported browser. 
bullet E 6.0(PC), IE 5.2(Mac), Netscape 6.2.x or Mozilla 1.5, 1.6 and 1.7(PC & Mac)(AOL is NOT a useable browser for this course!)  Note: For the most current information on supported browsers go to WebCT's Browser Tune-up Page.
bullet Hardware: Pentium-based or equivalent with 500 MHz or higher processor, 64 MB RAM or better and 500 MB or higher of available disk space
bullet Operating system: IBM/Intel: Windows 98/ /2000/XP or Apple Macintosh: Mac  OS 9 or OS X 10.1, 10.2 or 10.3
bulletMS WORD 97 or higher for sending assignments as email attachments
bulletOther: RELIABLE Internet Connection- A dial-up with a minimum of 28.8 modem or a T1, DSL or cable broadband connection
bulletEmail program to send and receive graphical attachments

There are scheduled on campus meetings for Che 106/124  for an initial orientation meeting and some tests. See the posted summary of meeting dates. These dates are discussed fully at the orientation meeting. On campus review sessions are scheduled upon request by the class. I am available for individually scheduled telephone, Email and in person office consultation throughout the semester if you need help or have any questions.
