Ethics Review Committee (ERC)
One of the hallmarks of a learned profession is a code of ethics that guides the professional conduct of its members. In higher education, faculty members have an obligation to observe appropriate standards of professional conduct on behalf of their students, their colleagues, and the academic institution they serve.
Faculty members at Union County College recognize this responsibility and abide by the following
The goal of this code of ethics is to promote an environment at Union County College where professional and ethical conduct in academic affairs are standard. The mission of ERC is published in Article XIX of the latest edition of the Faculty By-Laws.
The procedures require that allegations of faculty misconduct shall first be confidentially reported to the Chair of the ERC; the initial contact with the Chair shall not be in writing or in electronic form.
