Honors Studies
presents a unique opportunity for UCC's best students to continue to
pursue their studies in a more personal, creative,
intellectually challenging and non-traditional setting. Honors
courses in general are unique at the college because they reflect
the program’s commitment to critical thinking, collaborative work,
self-directed study, and the development of cross-cultural and
multidisciplinary perspectives. The program was founded on the
belief that these skills and this
approach to life are essential not only for future academic and
professional success, but for a more fulfilling personal life as
well.
Students who have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and have completed
at least 15 college credits are eligible to take courses in the
program. There are several ways to do so. But whether it's one of the core seminars (HRS 103 and HRS 104), an independent study
(HRS 203 and HRS 204), an honors section of an existing course, or a
Special Honors Project, Honors Studies offers an intellectually challenging and different kind of
learning experience—one that is more personal, interactive, and
self-directed than a typical college course, and one that involves a
closer working relationship with individual faculty and fellow
students.
If you’re not
yet familiar with the program and how it can benefit you, please
