State Gen Ed Audit

Home Up

Dear International Studies Student,

You are enrolled in a transfer-oriented program and will receive an Associate in Arts degree upon graduation from Union County
College.  Regulations by the State of New Jersey Commission on Higher Education require that all AA degree programs have at least
45 general education credits.  These credits must be distributed into several broad categories:  communications, mathematics-science-technology, social sciences, humanities, and diversity.  A review of your program has been completed and the International
Studies Option to the Liberal Arts Curriculum (LAIS) meets the State's AA Degree Review for General Education.

While the State requires only 45 general education credits, all of our courses, except for the International Economics course (ECO 209),
are general education courses.  Our program is a Liberal Arts program.  For some of us, Liberal Arts is an older terminology for what
some now call "general education."
