*** The Federal Republic of Germany and the
German Democratic Republic were admitted to membership in the
United Nations on 18 September 1973. Through the accession of
the German Democratic Republic to the Federal Republic of
Germany, effective from 3 October 1990, the two German States
have united to form one sovereign State.

Holy See is a Non-member
State which participates as
observer in the sessions and the work of the General Assembly and maintains
a permanent observer mission at Headquarters
Palestine is an Entity
which is permitted to participate as observer in the
sessions and the work of the General Assembly and maintains a
permanent observer mission at Headquarters
Palestine. A number
of Intergovernmental organizations have received standing invitations to
participate as observers in the sessions and the work of the General Assembly
and maintaining permanent offices at Headquarters. For a list of those who
