International Anchoritic Society Membership Information |
The IAS promotes the study of medieval religious enclosure, eremeticism and anchoritism and its variety of expressions throughout Europe throughout the Middle Ages and beyond. It actively promotes and supports all kinds of interdisciplinary exchanges across the world, offering, in particular, support and a forum for interaction for new and developing scholars within the field.
The IAS also encourages membership and exchange for those operating outside academic contexts and convenes regular conferences and symposia for the interchange of ideas and new research pertaining to medieval enclosure. In addition, it produces an annual Newsletter documenting the latest developments within anchoritic research and the IAS membership.
