COURSE DESCRIPTION

ENG 111 is the first of two 3-credit courses which are taken in place of ENG 101. In addition to the scheduled class time, there is a one-hour "Theme Analysis Conference" each week. I will be available to assist you with your writing. Everyone must see me at least once during the semester. Take advantage of this time; it will greatly improve both your writing and your grade.

In this class the emphasis will be on the writing and revision of major papers. These papers will be on a variety of topics. In addition, there will be a research paper on a topic of your choice which will also lead to an oral presentation. There will also be in-class-writing assignments which will be graded "holistically" as well as student journals which will be collected and graded. Class time will include both whole class and group discussions, peer revisions of papers, and both library and word processing instruction. [TOP]
