1. Write in circle journals—about 20-25 minutes (one page).
2. Write a well organized report about the person whom you interviewed.
· This paper must be exactly 4 paragraphs. EXACTLY 4!!!
· Remember: Do NOT write, “I interviewed….” Or “I asked….” ONLY write about the person, “Mary Watson was born….” or “Mary works….” Or “Mary used to….”
· Think hard and ORGANIZE. What Information belongs together in one paragraph? Don’t mix ideas that do not have one general idea. A bad example: “Mary is single. She has a boyfriend. She was born in Paris. She likes rock music and Reggae. She lives in Linden.” (Why is this bad?)
· After you write, check your grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Make corrections on the page with pen or pencil if you have to.
3. Read Chapter 1, carefully, and think about what it says about communication. (What is the title of the book?) Choose one of the topics on page 3 and
· (a) make some notes and then
· (b) write a nice long paragraph—5 to 10 sentences.
· (Like always, check your work when you finish. Give the paper the title: “Page 3, # ___” Put you name and the date in the top right corner.
4. In Chapter 2, read pages 4 to 9.
· Do practice 1 on pages 8 to 9.
·

Most classes meet 2 or 3 times a week for 50 minutes or 90 minutes. Those classes get HW every day. I have to give you 3 days HW every time we meet.
And if you are absent, it is like missing 3 classes! Make sure you attend and that you do ALL HW on time!
If you are absent, you MUST turn in the HW to me or the secretary in 414 by Monday.
You must also get the new assignment from me, from a friend, or from my web site. Assignments will be posted on my web page by Monday night. Bring the new HW to the next class. There is no excuse, “I did not know.”
