your own country or about the USA
B. On pages 69-73, do exercises
1,2,3,4 and 5 (in the book).

your essay about preferring New
York or New Jersey.

Improve your Conclusion
·
Turn in you notes, planning, and both drafts of the essay,
newest stapled on top.

Type.
Required for all drafts, but not for notes.

Use
“Format for Professional Looking Papers” or lose points.
Introduction:
REMEMBER: DO NOT START THE INTRO WITH THE MAIN IDEA (thesis) OF THE ESSAY!!! Start with background BEFORE the thesis!!
· Intros have different organization than other paragraphs!
· Intros START with the TOPIC but END with the CONTROLLING IDEA.)
· The Controlling Idea of the essay should be the LAST sentence of the paragraph. The Controlling Idea of an essay is usually called the THESIS.
· After the controlling idea(thesis) you MUST stop the Intro and Begin a NEW paragraph—Body Para 1.
Conclusion:

For
this conclusion, I want you to REVIEW the key points of the body
paragraphs and the Controlling Idea (Thesis) that ends your Intro.
·

Conclusions are the most common type in College essays.)
