ESL 091:021 HW 4
Homework: 9-23-05 Due 9-30-05
OVERVIEW: You will give me a one paragraph re-write of the holiday paragraph and a one paragraph re-write of the “The First Time” paragraph. Make these LONG paragraphs. (Aim for a whole page.) Also you will do circle journals and work in the book.
1. Write a page in Circle Journals.
2. Read Chapter 4. In Chapter 4, do Practices 1, 2,3,and 4. Practices 1,3, and 4 can be written in the book, but do Practice 2 on a new piece of paper.
3. “The First Time” Look at the paragraphs I return about a “First.” (A) Read my notes. (B) Reread the assignment and be sure you understand the GOAL and PARTS of the question. (C) rewrite your paragraph (= ONE paragraph, organized the way our book suggests) ***Try to begin with a good Topic Sentence (preview sentence.) Turn in BOTH drafts (old and new) with the new one stapled on top!
MAKE SURE THAT YOUR PARAGRAPH IS WELL ORGANIZED AND HAS
4. “Holiday” KEEP the papers that you brought today based on the HW p. 30 (=the HOLIDAY paragraph). RE-write your paragraph, using what you learn in chapter 4. MAKE IT ONE PARAGRAPH!!! Turn in old and new, new on top.

2. Most classes meet 2 or 3 times a week for 50 minutes or 90 minutes. Those classes get HW every day. I have to give you 3 days HW every time we meet.
And if you are absent, it is like missing 3 classes!
If you need me, I am available Monday and Wednesday 10:30 to 10:45 (in room 405) and after 1:40 or 1:50( I teach in room 400 until about 1:L40 or 1:50.) until the last student leaves. If you need more help, you can call me at home and we can talk or make an appointment for another time, perhaps Tuesday in my office room 405.
