Homework: 3-5-04   Due 3-12-04            Late papers will be penalized. 

Note: Usually, you have more work, such as reading the text and doing exercises. 

Instead, I want you to put much effort into your Holiday papers. 

Remember, 1 ½ pages or 2 pages is NOT 2 ½ pages. 

The assignment is 2 ½ pages. Details!!!  Information!!!

Follow ALL of the directions below, including A and B.

1.      Write a page in Circle Journals. 

2.      Revise your paper about the Holiday.  Because you have written this as a paragraph and then as a long paper, we will consider this the FINAL draft. As you write this draft, try to do the following: 

A. Focus on organization and clarity.  Do you:

·        Have an Intro that begins with background and ends with a thesis that fits your paper?

·        Have paragraphs that begin with good topic (preview) sentences?

·        Have topic sentences that “tie back” to the thesis?

·        Have lots of details?   

B. After you finish improving the organization, check carefully to be sure you have good grammar, spelling, punctuation and tenses.  If you need help, get help, from me, from a friend with good English, or from the ALC on the 3^rd floor. 

 To get credit:

• Turn in draft and all notes. 
• Staple everything. 
• Put newest draft in front, notes in back.
• Type it.
