Today, you’re going to search the Internet to find information for your project. Here’s a reminder of the assignment:

1) Make a product map of your country, capital city, your hometown, or another major city in your country.If your country is a small one, like Haiti, you can describe your country.If your country is very large, like Brazil, you might want to describe one area of the country or one large city.

Note: Do not spend all of your time making a beautiful map - something simple will be fine.

2) Chapters 13 and 14 in Grammar in Action contain the grammar you need to write your paper.

a. Paper length: Handwritten: 2 pages, skip lines

Typed: 1 - 1 1/2 pages, 12-pt font, double spaced

b. In the upper right-hand corner of the first page, put the following information :Your full name

The date

c. In the center, put the title of your project.

3) This paper will be worth 5 points towards your final grade. Your points will be based on the following: content, clarity, and accuracy. If you do not turn in your paper on time, you will lose possible points.

4) Copying: The purpose of this assignment is for you to use the grammar that you have been learning in context. Anyone who copies whole phrases, sentences, or paragraphs from books, encyclopedias, or the Internet willnot receive credit for the assignment. This is what you should do:

@Read the information that you have found.

@Take notes and write down the names of places, factories, industries, products, etc.

@Write your paper from your notes. Use your grammar book to assist you with the grammar.

@Come to my office to ask for help if you need it. Or, make an appointment; my schedule is flexible.

5) Your paper should include the following content:

@A brief introduction to the country, city, or hometown that you are describing. Some of the content you should include is: location, climate, population, and language.

@One to two paragraphs describing the industries, products, agricultural products, major companies of your country. Use details and examples to make your information interesting. For example, if you can find some of the products in this local area, you can say that.

@Optional: You may include one paragraph about a famous structure in your country. We’ve already studied the Eiffel Tower, the Taj Mahal, and the Great Pyramid.

@A conclusion with a statement about the place that you have described.

6) You must attach all sources that you used. For example, if you used information from the Internet, print the page(s) and attach them to your paper.

7) The date that you hand in your paper, you will sit with me to briefly describe your project. This conversation will be added to your final speaking grade for Level 4.
