There are four sociology courses which are taught totally
online. These courses will use the power of the Internet to deliver online learning that
is independent of time and location. Rather than meeting in a classroom, you
and your instructor interact online in a forum using Web Course Tool (WebCT).
You can use this Internet-based application to access course content, take tests,
submit homework and interact with the instructor.
Online courses will benefit you in a number of ways. They provide you with an opportunity of anytime, anywhere learning.
You can access
the class either from your home or elsewhere and thus online courses will accommodate your
schedule. In an online environment,
you interact with the instructor via email; you can ask questions and receive
feedback on bulletin board and in chat rooms; you can submit your assignments
and take the tests online. Independent study and collaborate learning will help
you develop critical thinking and problems solving skills. Finally, the class
materials from the instructor's lecture notes and from the Web become a basis of
"escalator" to enhance active learning.
Sociology online courses are web-based, students-oriented, and technology-focused. It will
provide you with the same quality instruction and service as the traditional mode of
delivery. I
am currently teaching four sociology online courses.
